Bonita trust's water tanks supplying fresh water to tens of thousands of displaced persons at the Karradeux and Carrefour tented refugee camps

In the three weeks following Bonita Trust ‘s $80,000 donation, 36,000 gallons of fresh water are now being distributed in the camps every day via Bonita-sponsored water tanks. Bonita’s donation to Haiti will eventually provide the distribution of a total of 60,000 gallons of fresh water every day at Karradeux and Carrefour, two of the largest tented refugee camps in Haiti.
All the water tanks have been hand-painted by volunteers on the ground showing the name of the sponsor and the flag of each sponsor's country of origin.

Ruth Parasol DeLeon, founding member of the Bonita Trust International Advisory Board comments “We are proud to see the flag of Gibraltar, home to the Bonita Trust, displayed amongst the flags of the other philanthropies from around the world. Our presence in this global landscape is a reflection of our commitment to working with communities both at home and internationally. Philanthropy is more than the giving of money; it is about the creation of partnerships, the giving of personal time, the time to understand the very individual challenges being faced by many on so many different levels. The natural catastrophe in Haiti has caused widespread devastation, in the face of which we see the life-force of the people, supported by friends from around the world, working together to rebuild their community.”
Bonita's donation is part of a total $3.2m raised so far by the American-Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) for continuing and long-term relief efforts in Haiti. Bonita Trust has allocated a total of $250,000.00 to be distributed over the next five years towards future relief efforts in Haiti, $80,000.00 being the first part for water tanks.
