Community Care Project: We Care Project

The Bonita Trust established the We Care project which was launched in Gibraltar to encourage children to become involved in community care, whilst at the same time earning personal rewards, and benefiting local charities. The idea of this community care project is to promote communal giving amongst our youth. It is ultimately another way of educating our children and teaching them to be kind and thoughtful to others. In so doing, and by actively participating in good deeds, we believe it will promote a positive ‘way of being’ for our children. For each good deed done by the children, from a prescribed list, they earn points for a local charity of their choice. Tasks could be anything from helping an elderly person with their shopping, to being involved in community recycling, to washing cars.

Following a successful pilot run of We Care, over 20 local charities have received cash donations which will reap benefits throughout Gibraltar. Thus this community care program has helped charity fundraising for Gibraltar community development. The highest achieving pupils also earned personal rewards.

We Care Project has been extremely well received in Gibraltar creating community development awareness amongst the youth.
